WiHM Special - Kelsey Livengood

A guest on several previous spotlights, I'm pleased to welcome back Kelsey Livingood to talk about her work in the upcoming film "The Dead Place" and several other projects.

Me: Hello, and thank you for returning to this! Since last we’ve spoke, you’ve been involved in numerous projects, including the upcoming “The Dead Place.” What can you tell us about the film?
Kelsey Livingood: It's coming out very, very soon!!!!! It's a tale of bullying and mental health with a dark force at the helm.

Me: Playing the character of Miss Briar, what initially attracted you to the role? What about the character made you interested in playing her?
KL: I love to do things outside of my “norm,” so playing a teacher seemed like so much fun! (I also play a 2nd character, but you'll have to watch and see)

Me: What was the set like while shooting the film? How did the cast and crew react to the type of film being made?
KL: The most professional set I've ever been on!!! Everyone in the cast and crew was patient and kind, and I'd work with any of them again in a heartbeat!!!!

Me: Do you recall having any odd or funny on-set stories about yourself or any of the other cast/crew members?
KL: Not that I can think of, but I got to meet my “possestie” Angel Bradford in person for the first time on this shoot, and I'm forever grateful for the experience.

Me: As well, another upcoming film is “Babezilla vs the CyberSkanks,” featuring you as Colonel Clamp. What initially attracted you to this type of character?
KL: I LOVE comedy horror, and I jumped at the opportunity to be silly, hot, and a badass simultaneously!!

Me: How much leeway went into the creation of what happened on set? What was it like to get into that type of mindset once you got on set?
KL: Aj is a very collaborative director if someone wants to try the scene a certain way, he is always up for others' interpretation!!! I play a character similar to Mischief in this film, so it was very easy to get into Colonel Clamps' headspace!

Me: In addition to your film work, you’ve also started working more on your circus sideshow adventures. What led to resurrecting this aspect of your persona?
KL: I missed entertaining people!

Me: What type of prep-work goes into getting a new show planned? What is it like to see everything come together when it’s finally performed?
KL: There's tons of prep work, show writing, picking the music, the act itself, and so much more!!! It's so rewarding to see the final product.

Me: What else are you working on that you'd like to share with our readers?
KL: I have a super secret project I'm working on that I can't share any details about YET, just know you've never seen Mischief so dark-hearted!!!! ;)

Me: Lastly, being that this is our Women in Horror Movement, what special message do you have for any women out there looking to join in the industry in any capacity as you are one yourself? Thank you for your time!
KL: You are welcome. You are wanted. No matter what size you are or what you look like. You are beautiful. Keep reaching for your dreams
