WiH Movement Special - Mischief

An upcoming actress, hostess and entertainer, Mischief is part of the celebrated duo Scoops and Mischief that's currently looking to expand their skills working as an acting duo in genre films. Now, in honor of our Women in Horror Movement, I talk with her about the creation of the duo, working on films together and upcoming projects.

Me: Hello and thank you for taking the time to do this. First off, when did you get into horror in general?
Mischief: I watched my first horror film (Child's Play) at age 5 and I have been obsessed ever since

Me: Were you into genre films growing up? What films specifically got you into watching horror movies?
Mischief: Child's Play, the Final Destination series and the Saw movies really got me started

Me: When did you initially discover a passion for acting? What aspect of this industry appeals to you?
Mischief: My passion for acting started in high school when I was cast in the musical Godspell! I love that you can play different characters and that you can just let loose all of the stress and anxiety in the world into this character that you bring to life for others to enjoy.

Me: Is there any specific type of character you prefer playing? What do you look for in a character to be excited and interested in playing it?
Mischief: I prefer the villain, the monsters. I am not a girl next door type of gal I want to be the badass that takes over a scene! I just love anything evil really haha

Me: You're mostly known for your collaborations with Scoops in the combo Scoops and Mischief. How did you two initially get together and form the basis for the act?
Mischief: We both had our own podcasts on Facebook his was promoting music and I was promoting the local haunt that I worked for. I asked him to do some graphic design for me and we hit it off, he moved to Nebraska and we hit the ground running doing combo live-feeds 3 times a week for the last 3 years

Me: What were some of the initial goals you set out for you two?
Mischief: We had originally wanted to reach 10k likes on Facebook (we are at over 46,000 now) we also wanted to do a horror film and have accomplished that as well our next goal is to win an award of some kind!

Me: Mostly working out as haunt actors, what are some of your most memorable experiences in that field?
Mischief: We have made a lot of people pee or poop themselves it's like that next level satisfaction of a scare….crying also suffices

Me: How did that experience turn into working in independent films?
Mischief: As a haunter, you have to be good at acting you have to be 1000% that character and that is helpful when it comes to filmmaking! We had garnered the attention of filmmaker Joseph Kelly with our live-feeds and the rest is history.

Me: With your appearances in star-studded casts on the films Terror Toons 4, Staycation and Clown Motel 2, what tips and tricks have you learned as an actress from working on these films? What do you recall from your experiences working on these films?
Mischief: I have learned that although filmmaking is a lot of work it is also a lot of fun!!! My experience on all of these films has been amazing I have met a lot of friends I consider family now and that is worth its weight in gold.

Me: Working as a writer and director together on the upcoming Pig Squeals and Corn Meal, how did that come together? What can you tell us about it?
Mischief: We decided it was time to try or hand at filmmaking! It is a horror anthology with different stories as told by different DJs/characters on our radio station hellfire entertainment media group!

Me: Outside of film, you two host a live show on your Facebook page hosting metal bands and interviewing genre personalities. What are you looking to achieve working on the show?
Mischief: Some goals we have for the Friday Fuckery show are having more A-List guests. We would LOVE to have Ghost on as well as Chris Motionless from Motionless in White! We also love to do this show because we do showcase some of the underdogs and smaller guys!

Me: How do you do to keep your creative energy flowing?
Mischief: I am someone who has to change pace frequently so I play with different makeup schemes to keep mischief fresh. I also watch documentaries on horror film making lol

Me: What else are you working on that you'd like to share with our readers?
Mischief: We are working on a 2021/2022 tour where we do horror cons, tattoo conventions and haunts so check out our page to see where we are going

Me: Lastly, being that this is our Women in Horror Movement, what special message do you have for any women out there looking to join in the industry in any capacity as you are one yourself? Thank you again for your time!
Mischief: My message to the women wanting to get into this industry is….. Go for it! Be 100% authentic and put your entire self into it. you may be doubted just because you are a woman in this industry but don't let that get you down. Push yourself because I believe in you! If you ever need an ear to hear you I am here for you!
