WiHM Special - Regina Groth

A guest on a previous spotlight, I'm pleased to welcome actress Regina Groth back to discuss some of her latest accomplishments and upcoming projects.

Me: Hello, and thank you for returning to this! Since last we’ve spoke, you’ve been involved in numerous projects for Dave Kerr, including the upcoming “Bloody Summer Camp 2.” What can you tell us about the film and your character? Was there anything unique or special that helped to get into her mindset?
Regina Groth: Hey, Don! It is great to be back! I got involved with Slasher 15 in 2023, when I landed the role of Grace for their film The Slasher Nurse. After The Slasher Nurse finished filming, their next film was Bloody Summer Camp 2. I asked them if there were any open behind-the-scenes positions they could teach me. I was able to learn how to be a script supervisor, and I learned how to use the Slate. The experience was awesome! I had so much fun working behind the scenes. I did not have a character acting role for this one, but I did get to be Diana Prince's Body Double and background when they needed it.

Me: Returning to work with him on the film following your previous film together, “The Slasher Nurse,” did that help to make you more comfortable not just with him but with the rest of his stock group of actors and actresses?
RG: Besides being a little nervous about meeting everyone for the first time at the Slasher 15 script read, we all clicked instantly. They made me feel welcome, and I felt like I had known them for a long time, so when it was time to film, I was good to go! I always look forward to seeing my friends (and making new ones) on set.

Me: What was the set like while shooting the film? How did the cast and crew react to the type of film being made?
RG: The Bloody Summer Camp 2 set was awesome. I got to try my hand at being the Script Supervisor. The old and new cast meshed very well together. Bloody Summer Camp 2 is a comedy horror; they all knew what it was going to be like, since there was already a part one.

Me: Do you recall having any odd or funny on-set stories about yourself or any of the other cast/crew members?
RG: Dave Sheridan and Felissa Rose, hands down, are 2 of the funniest people on the planet lol. They can turn anything funny. Hell, they don't even need a script! They are just so naturally talented and funny.

Me: What are you most looking forward to with its upcoming release?
RG: I am looking forward to people being able to enjoy the fruits of our hard work. Bloody Summer Camp 2 is having their Premier March 28th, 2026, at the Alamo in Winchester, Va. Here is the link to the tickets: https://drafthouse.com/winchester/show/bloody-summer-camp-2-red-horizon?cinemaId=0301&fbclid=IwVERDUAP0OD9leHRuA2FlbQIxMABzcnRjBmFwcF9pZAwzNTA2ODU1MzE3MjgAAR6yaSXzqUrP3Gh5_iExul_3nSN-JSQ2otPJzBlueuIciFV_CfLWKv2wpBCswQ_aem_meXW3wIw9w7faPsmvaWmpw

We have a viewing at 9:00pm and 9:30. Hope to see y'all there!

Me: As well, you’re also working on another upcoming film with Dave, “Uncle Fred’s Monster Problem.” What can you tell us about the film?
RG: Uncle Fred’s Monster Problem is going to be epic. Dave has a phenomenal cast that includes Felissa Rose, Brian Bremer, and Jim Krut. The Movie is about a 7ft monster who wreaks havoc in a small town. I will be working behind the scenes, and I do have a very small part as one of the police officers.  Filming starts this April. To keep up to date with the process, you can follow Dave Kerr and Slasher 15 here: https://www.facebook.com/share/1PF4GjDdVD/

Me: With a stacked cast of talented indie actors and actresses involved in each film, what are you most looking forward to getting to work with familiar names and those you haven’t worked with before?
RG: Actors turn into friends, so just being able to hang with them again is what I look forward to. The new ones will all fall into it naturally. Dave is good at picking the right people.

Me: What else are you working on that you'd like to share with our readers?
RG: Unless I pick up a gig from Liquid Talent, this is it!

Me: Lastly, being that this is our Women in Horror Movement, what special message do you have for any women out there looking to join in the industry in any capacity as you are one yourself? Thank you again for your time!
RG: Keep going even if you are turned down/Not selected, and make sure you are not falling into a scam, because it is easy. Sheri Bias runs Liquid Talent Agency in Richmond. They are 100% legit. Once you bag your first gig, I would recommend talking to your fellow castmates find out what other casting places they go to. That will open things up for you. It's all about networking!
