Plot:
Plagued by vicious nightmares, a woman taking a job as a healthcare provider for a woman’s sick sister learns the whole thing is part of a ritual by a demonic priestess to force her to carry the spawn of the Devil, bringing about a struggle to keep it safe from others around her.
Review:
This was a fairly strong and generally likable indie effort. Among the better factors to be had with this one come from the wild and immensely scattershot storyline that provides this with the kind of wild imagery not normally associated with this type of storyline. After initially appearing as if it’ll focus on the released vampire queen following the initial introduction of the legend and the subsequent job interview that appears to be a means of getting it released into the world at large, this one changes it around into bringing up the satanic ritual and eventual possession that this really plays out as. Following up on their encounter, the eventual encounters she has with others around her that signal something has changed make for a fun time.
On top of that, the eventual rampage that comes about from the possession and getting released into the world, which is where the majority of the fun comes from. The rather strong encounters involved with her outward aggression and superhuman powers ripping apart and devouring those around her, meeting up with the woman at the diner while trying to escape everything, and starting up a potential romance between them all come together incredibly well by leading into the series of reveals about what the vampire queen had actually done. By bringing in the discovery of the deformed, monster baby and moving the rampage along in that realm of ripping victims apart following its arrival, this goes off into a drastically different style than expected, which is immensely fun and likable.
There are a few minor factors that keep this down. The main drawback is that seemingly random storyline that introduces quite a few intriguing storyline possibilities yet never goes for many of them. The inclusion of the fabled vampire and her connection to them is glossed over at the very beginning with very little impact or importance in the story to make the usage feel warranted. That also manages to tie into the police investigation that takes place around the killings, which is dismissed quite early on and doesn’t go anywhere with the character in only one sequence here, and as there are still all sorts of obvious low-budget limitations to get over in trying to play up the type of film this really is, all of this holds one back.

An incredibly effective and likable indie effort, this one comes off exceptionally well with what it’s trying to do and has so few drawbacks that there are only a few slight drawbacks to be had with it. Those with an appreciation for this style of genre fare, who are curious about it, or who are fans of the creative crew will have the most to like here, as most others out there should heed caution.
