Review:

Overall, this was a fairly solid, if problematic, genre effort. The opening half works best, where it introduces some massively intriguing elements to discuss her lifestyle and the type of content she makes. Looking at her series of exploits, ranging from the video releases, music drops, and online promotional content that she makes her career on, it all creates the kind of modern influencer lifestyle that makes everything feel all the more connected to the way of life. When the comment is made, and she becomes unhinged by the one negative piece of unconstructive feedback given to her amongst the thousands of positive comments reinforcing her commitment to her career, there's a solid series of flashbacks to her past, looking at why she's the way she is, wanting to take the steps she does to get the revenge she does.

The second half, where she takes on a disguise and sets out to perform the special version of revenge, where there’s an intricate, multi-layered approach that plays out regarding getting back at the commentator. From infiltrating his mother’s life and turning her back into an alcoholic after she’s spent years in recovery, framing the dad as an abusive wreck, and making him look like a runaway trying to get away from the mess in his personal life, this creates a wholly unconventional and complicated plot that’s completely earned if only it wasn’t all that bland to see play out. This particular plot is a solid enough idea, but to get it to play out in full isn’t as interesting as the other factors here, and leads to a bit of a lull waiting around for her to get to the guy in question, doing this bizarre plot for little reason, and with some low-budget limitations on display, which hold this one down.

Overview: ***.5/5
A generally fun and liable thriller which manages to have a lot to like, this has some generally fun elements to it while only being let down by a few minor drawbacks that hold it down just slightly. Those with an appreciation for this style of genre fare or who are interested in it will have a lot to enjoy here, while most others out there might want to heed caution.
