Review:
This was a rather fun genre effort. Among the better aspects to be had here is the way this one unfurls a sitcom-style setup for the escalating misadventures of the duo as they try to sort through what’s going on. The whole insane scenario of waking up next to a mysterious dead body with no memory of how they got together or what happened, a series of comedic escapades ensue as they try to make sense of what’s going on, and that in turn leads to further comedic shenanigans as the next part of the puzzle leads to further complications is immensely entertaining. With this bringing about mistaken identity, clandestine sexual encounters, stolen property, drug deals gone wrong, and much more, the whole unfolding scenario becomes more intriguing the more it is slowly revealed about the night.
These interactions are usually kept fun, upbeat, and quite lively, with the exasperation and frustration over the puzzle not coming together to provide the comedic moments, much like the whole concept of the two women trying to overpower and control others as they try to hide what’s going on. The different ways it has to suggest something is happening that doesn’t play well with the previous knowledge of the situation makes for a fun time as the series of exploits bring up new obstacles to overcome, and it builds to a satisfying enough conclusion, which is quite fun even if there’s little about it that generates any genuine stakes in what’s going on. The whole thing doesn’t seem to have the kind of consequences they think they do, so it never makes sense for things to spiral as much as they do, but that’s the main issue with it.
Overview: ****/5
A hilariously comedic sitcom-style genre effort, there’s quite a lot to like about this one, with the way it comes together with only a few minor drawbacks that don’t bother this one all that much. Those with an interest in the subject matter, who are curious about it, or who are fans of the creative crew will have the most to like here, while most others out there should heed caution.
