Today, we learned the tragic news that beloved Dutch-born character actor Rutger Hauer, known for his work in genre films Blade Runner, Flesh and Blood, Nighthawks, The Hitcher, Split Second and Hobo with a Shotgun, just to name a few, passed away this morning after a short illness. He was 75. One of the more prominent and respected actors in the 70s and 80s, most undoubtedly were influenced by his work in those films and got an introduction to the style through his films in those films. At this time, I'd like to offer my sincere condolences to his friends and family in this sad time.
