Review:
This was a massively enjoyable and fun killer snake effort. One of the better aspects of this one is that it provides the kind of good-natured setup where it gets everything required for this kind of feature. The main setup of the girls using the trip to the island for their own devices is that they’re either on the trip for a school project or to help their friend who’s looking to check out the potential of the island hosting a special resort there is a fine one making sure this one gets the girls on the island and onto the subsequent chasing. The inadvertent nature of the creature choosing to follow them as a result of stepping on its eggs gives the snake a fine purpose for going after the group as well, providing a fine reason for all the participants to be there and get involved with each other.
The resulting attacks featured here are fun if nothing groundbreaking, as the massive snake gets involved and begins chasing the group in the jungle where it lives. With the huge size is so common in these types of films, allowing it to sneak up and swallow people whole after a subsequent chase through the undergrowth or nearby river. This is enhanced incredibly well with the race to stop the snakes’ advances, providing some thrilling, action-packed chases as well as solid defensive strategies, where it finally starts knocking off the cast, since it’s quite feasible to believe the film takes way too long to get going with the big action scenes, leaving too much of the cast alive way too deep into the film. Getting plenty of action and an explosive finale here does help, but it’s still the main issue here.
Overview: ***.5/5
A solid, cheesy killer snake film, there’s quite a lot to like here, while being let down by several slight issues that do pop up throughout here. Those who are fans of this particular style or appreciate this kind of cheesy genre fare will have the most to like with the film, while most others out there should heed caution.
