Review:

Overall, this was a fairly fun and generally enjoyable genre thriller. The initial starting point here showing off how their band functions and what kind of lifestyle they hope to achieve because of it so that she can escape the strained relationship with her father is a great way to get this started with how her character comes off before the big reveal occurs that changes how they interact with each other. The emotional connection that arises between them as he reveals more about himself begins to turn her off while the two talk together while waiting together and the unnerving stories get brought closer to the forefront, not just the story about what happened to his wife but also his reaction to her reaction of it, sets things up quite well tying these storylines together quite nicely.

It’s all fun enough and serves as a great way to set things in motion even if it all does take a while to get going as a whole. It’s really just the two of them together and not much else happening so this section can seem somewhat overlong in terms of waiting around for the good stuff to start happening which is what occurs here in the final half. The psychosexual antics and the psychological torment on display here as the two of them interact in the club after hours is fantastic with the full-on character twists and motivations for everything making for a genuinely tense time featuring plenty of thrilling back-and-forth confrontations that bring his abusive attitude to the forefront with some creepy scenes and imaginative twists which all make this quite fun overall.

Overview: ***.5/5
An immensely fun indie thriller effort, this comes off far better than expected with some tense moments and several great surprises alongside a few minor drawbacks that do crop up at times. Really give this one a shot if you’re a fan of this particular style of indie fare or appreciate the creative crew while those turned off by its detrimental factors should heed caution.
