Review:

This was a pretty underwhelming if still somewhat watchable action effort. When this one works best is utilizing the strengths of its lead as there's a rather solid series of encounters and confrontations. Featuring a slew of admittedly impressive sequences that run the gamut from hand-to-hand combat, some martial arts brawls, and weaponry brought into the mix, this manages to be quite a bit more enjoyable and carries itself quite well with a slew of chances for everyone to show off their skills. Given that each of the sequences is based throughout the film and keeps the pace going quite high, there’s a lot of fun to this one that does manage to provide some likable factors.

This one does have a few small factors that hold it back. The main issue here is that the film is so cliched and rather familiar that it’s hard to feel like this one doesn’t really have much else going for it. The lack of information on each of the people involved, which is so thin that it’s hard to really say much about them beyond the norm, this tends to be quite underwhelming for those that need more than brainless action. It would also help the film not have to think about a baseless hulking lead who doesn’t have much to do beyond the fist-clenching and gun-shooting which is a bit distressing that the lead here isn’t that memorable. Otherwise, there’s not much else to dislike here.

Overview: ***/5
A generally solid indie action film with some nice positives but also some big negatives, there’s enough on display to be worthwhile at what it does even with the issues at hand. Give it a shot if you’re a fan of this style of indie action film or are curious about it while only those that don’t appreciate this style should heed caution.
