Short Film Review: The Sandman (2022) by Brooke deRosa

Living alone in her house, a woman trying to live through the night finds herself under attack by The Sandman.

Overall, there's quite a lot to like here. The main aspect featured with this one is the impressive visual flair as a series of rapid-fire edits and other visual tricks here showcase a pretty great dynamic throughout here. This leads to a really frenetic sense of impending doom the more it's utilized with the flair meshing quite nicely with the rest of what's going on here. The common quality of being unable to fall asleep and believing that someone or something is in the room with us ready to pounce and prey is handled incredibly well with how this preys on the concept. This does feel a bit confusing at the end with the brevity making for a rather confusing time determining what the monster was trying to accomplish beyond inference but it's not too bad and holds itself up quite nicely as a result.
