Review:
Generally, there's a lot to like here with this one. One of its better features is the look at the daily life of everyone we come across, with the wrap-around and the first story providing the best example here since those are intimate looks at the highlighted individuals. Getting to know their personal struggles and how their past lives trying to survive their situations has affected them gives this a great start, while the fourth segment about the individual going through the organ removal treatment to become a super soldier against the zombie threat is also among the best segments due to the heavy focus on living in the pandemic. That fourth segment also includes some fun action featuring confrontations with the creatures which keeps everything fun with the storyline about living with implants to fight off creatures gives this a great time overall.
That's enough to overcome a few underwhelming segments here. The second one is quite odd since its story about the woman being abducted and tortured by the lunatic, which is a perfectly fine segment in every regard, sticks out s a sore thumb due to the lack of influence about the post-apocalyptic theme the rest of the stories are built around although it's easy to overlook that with the segment being as much fun as it is. The brief bit involving the guy trying to get to a sick family member is fine but doesn't last long enough to have the same emotional connection that's in place here which it seems to be aiming for, while the final segment with the time-traveler is the most fun to watch unfold but feels far too complicated with its intricate plot to be an anthology segment when a feature-length version would've been more worthwhile. Beyond that, it's still really fun and enjoyable.
Overview: ***.5/5
A massively fun indie anthology that has quite a lot to like here, this one comes with many positives in most segments and not even having too many negatives when they do appear. Those that appreciate this type of genre approach, are fans of the creative crew of enjoy indie films in general will have plenty to like with it while only those who don't appreciate the format of style should need caution.
