Plot:
Stopping off at a small-town diner, a couple finds themselves attacked by a random stranger who's exhibiting strange behavior and psychotic tendencies, which soon becomes a regular occurrence around the town as more citizens begin to start behaving in wild chaotic means. After realizing that the source of everything is a strange toxin ingested through the water supply nearby, they team up with the unaffected members of the sheriff's department to try to quell the violence that is soon traced back to a government experiment conducted by a wild scientist testing the serum on the population and forcing them to stop the madness from spreading.

Review:

Overall, there was a lot to really like with this one. The simplistic setup at play tends to provide a fun time here with the series of initial incidents putting everything in motion nicely as the outbursts tend to provide a means of investigating what's going on. With the mystery soon established to have begun at the local water supply, the film then moves into a solid series of scenes featuring their attempts at keeping the peace in the area which revolves around taking down the crazed citizens in a slew of gunfights and car crashes that offer a much more spectacular look than expected with the spectacle involved here coming across bigger than you'd think for this kind of film.

On top of that, the simple storyline also offers solid reasoning for what's happening as the whole Black Ops nature of the project is serviceable enough to get this one going. The straightforward nature of the scenario keeps things focused on trying to survive while only giving the barest glimpses of the possible truth that finally could've gotten revealed in the finale through a fine monologue that spells everything out quite well. It's the one slight issue in that the goal of the experiment is revealed but not the intention or the truth behind it leaving a question mark as to how the infected wife was able to recover, but this is only a slightly annoying feature of this one.

Overview: ****/5
A highly enjoyable and rather fun Action film that doesn't have much really wrong with it, this one manages to remain fun throughout as a series of solid action and spectacle keep this going rather nicely. Those who appreciate this kind of solid genre fare or are fans of the creative crew will have plenty to like here while only those who don't appreciate the style or approach should heed caution.
