Review:

This was a pretty enjoyable thriller. One of the strongest aspects of this one is the rather impressive topical undercurrent running through the film. Utilizing a very real starting point with the drug epidemic that's ravaging the country and overtaking the community wit a rather alarming rate, the political and social stances this one takes brings about a connection to what's going on in the current age. The need for all the different confrontations and setups involving the different figures involved in the various stages of the conspiracy to distribute the drugs in the community gives this one a lot of decent action scenes as he takes them out in a brutal fashion. That this ends up enhancing the storyline with the pills overwhelming the country generates a great way to bring it all together.

The majority of this comes across nicely at the expense of the one flaw in the film with the somewhat underwhelming action in here. The confrontations aren't really that exciting, focusing more on retribution with our sympathy on his side to dole out justice to the doctors that it comes off simplistic just coming up and shooting them. Given that the overwhelming amount of these encounters are simply him approaching the unwary victim and unloading his gun on them with a hit-or-miss speech to explain what's going on, those expecting more in the way of gunplay or spectacle will be sorely disappointed at this one. Even if you're not, the chance exists that these could appear formulaic as it goes on without varying how these play off which can also affect some viewers who are looking for something in that regard. Neither of these factors is truly detrimental or drawbacks but still something to be pointed out.

Overview: ***.5/5
A timely and enjoyable thriller that's ripped from the headlines of the day, the topicality of the subject matter is one part of what makes this one so good as the few issues it does feature aren't in the slightest bit detrimental. This is definitely worthwhile for those who are interested in the subject matter or fans of the creative crew behind the film, while those who find themselves slightly turned off by the flaws might need to heed caution.
