Review:

This was a rather enjoyable and fun thriller. Among the more entertaining features here is the escalating sense of isolation and paranoia that runs throughout here. Given the state that this one drops the two together, with the driver pulling into the rest stop to do exactly that and the other girl emerging out of nowhere telling a wildly unbelievable and suspicious story that does seem to support her frantic state, the situation is quite enjoyable in that regard. Seeing how the night play s out as their distrust of each other after all the stunts that she pulls trying to find help and the different obstacles which are brought up before getting to the actual explanation of everything with a flashback revealing everything including the setup for the situation and some decent action in the eventual escape attempt. Featuring the action present in the cat-and-mouse chasing featured here and the sense of euphoria presented at the final outcome, there's a lot to like here.

There isn't much wrong here but the flaws present are rather impactful. The main issue with this one is the wholly unrealistic writing that comes about in order to stretch such a flimsy storyline into a feature-length effort. The constant befuddlement with keys and weapons that tries to stop them in the truck-stop that reeks of contrivance to the unnecessary and needless involvement of the random punks that drags the film out with useless confrontations to pad the film out, creating a highly unbelievable scenario here stretching this out. As well, the film's reliance on introducing unbelievable twist after twist in the final half is nearly impossible to take seriously, bringing together comically overwrought scenarios that border on the unrealistic at a point where the film had built up a level of realism at this point. These do the most damage to lower it overall.

Overview: ***/5
While it's filled with some unbelievable and unrealistic writing that manages to undo some of the fun action that had been built up beforehand, there's a lot of positives here which still make this a great time. Give it a look if you're interested in these kinds of genre thrillers or if it sounds intriguing while most others might not be that interested in this one due to the flaws.
