Short Review - The Rotten Fruit of Eden by David Black

Can Adam resist the temptation of eating from the Tree of Life and thus becoming immortal? The Snake is very beautiful and persuasive!

This was a pretty solid take on the story. Played pretty straight compared to the previous efforts, the goofiness that usually emerges here from his hilariously aloof methods of reacting to what temptation she offers is pretty fun as the anger and frustration grows compared to how she initially approached him. Given the end result of how it's going to play out based on the straightforward retelling, it has a lot of wackiness to how it's going to get there based on their interactions together.

As well, the production work here is far better than expected, given the amount of make-up work and costumes done on her. The snake-like complexion, scale-filled sections of the body and ornate crown of snakes gives this a generally bigger and expansive feel considering the origins of the short which is graciously given a lot of screentime to work over. The ending joke is really the shorts' only drawback as it comes off as not nearly as clever as some of the other interactions they've just had and is a slight disappointment to end on a downbeat, but otherwise this offers up quite a lot to like.
