Special Review: Malvolia: The Queen of Screams Thankskilling Special by Jenn Nangle

Gathering together to celebrate the holidays, a group of friends trying to unwind after a rough year is thrown for an unexpected twist that derails their festivities.

This was a highly impressive entry. The whole surprise of the situation is quite dark with the group appearing out of nowhere following the early get-together with the friends deciding on what activities to perform together. With the ease of her and the family taking over the group and holding them hostage, the fun torments and games that are played with them get quite bloody and brutal with some shocking moments involving the impressive wounds resulting from the creative-minded games. The finale is quite enjoyable as well with the twist about their fates and how the group manages to get away which also generates a lot to like alongside the ravenous bloodshed featured.

Moreover, the wacky eccentricities of the group have quite a lot to enjoy about it. The one-liners and dark humor featured from the hostess is certainly a treat and adds a fun energy to the whole affair with a rather dark edge. The other two come off rather nicely with their bloodlust and murderous frenzy featured rather heavily getting quite a lot to like here as their glee at carving everyone up or chasing after the group generates a fun time overall. It could've used a little more in the beginning to get a better sense of the friends being targeted as it's quite easy to forget their names even until the ending credits, but this doesn't damper this in the slightest.
