Review:

This was a rather enjoyable effort overall. Among it's more enjoyable elements is the fact that this one goes straight into the action and remains so for most of the film. Given that this one drops us off in the middle of the battle between the two forces, it remains quite engaging throughout as the two sides begin their fight in grand fashion opening this off with a great series of action set-pieces in the wasteland. As this is revealed why with tons of storyline setting up the motivations for fighting as the different and seemingly disparate elements come together surprisingly well, handling how the invasion has come about and how the special tactics in the social function within those confines.

This is accomplished by those constant and excessive battles throughout here, as the sides take up arms against each other rather frequently here bringing about the demons into battle against the two sides here and the scenes are far greater than would be expected especially coming from the type of budget constraints this one plays with. That the film has the type of sheen and gloss as it does for these scenes is what drives this along, as well as the totally over-the-top storyline involving all sorts of demonic pacts, wizardry, double-crosses and a rebellious coup that all make for a fun time here.

There are some problems present here. Most of the biggest issues are the same storyline that does present this one with the main set of problems for not only does this have far too much going on making it longer than it really should've been, yet also manages to make it a lot more confusing than this really needed to be. Making out the various sides and their stakes in the film's storyline is somewhat of a losing battle when everyone tends to reverse their loyalties and change their motivations frequently. It's quite cheap-looking and some won't handle the cheesy effects and low-budget, but it's far more watchable than expected even with these issues, though.

Overview: ***/5
A quite fun if somewhat confusing and over-written genre effort, the positives here are far more important to its overall rewatchability and enjoyment which lift this one along nicely. Fans of the creative crew or those who appreciate the low-budget nature of what's going on here will like this one the most, while those who are turned off by the flaws featured here will want to heed caution.
