Arriving at his fiancée's mansion, a man looking to retrieve her so that they can be married together finds that her controlling brother is trying to remove him before a terrible family curse takes hold of them, and tries to ensure her safety before it can come to pass.

Receiving notice of her death, a man travels to the castle of her husband to see his sister, only to learn that his belief in her being corrupted by its torturous past makes him believe that he has prematurely buried her, and he begins tormenting them to ensure his secret is kept hidden.


Following his wife's return from a trip away, she begins to notice her husband's growing concern and fascination with the concept of being buried alive has consumed him to the point of madness, and tries in vain to find a solution while he remains convinced of his beliefs.

Deserting from the Army, an officer heads to an old castle for sanctuary, but when he begins to see a ghostly figure of a woman running around the grounds and eventually stumbles upon a dreaded curse placed upon the family, he must get away before he succumbs to it as well.


Arriving in town to inherit a family-owned castle, a man and his wife find the local villagers warning them away in fear of a curse about an ancestor crucified and burned for being a witch, and they soon fear it has returned and set out to stop him from reliving his actions.

Anthologies:

Three short stories, all based on the collection of Edgar Allen Poe, are told in an anthology setting:  a young woman arrives at the castle home of her father to meet him after a lifetime of being away where she becomes possessed by the spirit of his dead wife for what happened to her; a man complains to his wife about his hatred for her black cat and how it interferes with his drinking which soon causes it to interfere with his plans; a dying man asks a mesmerist to hypnotize him at the moment he dies only for the hypnotist to die before being released from his state.
